The sun shone and the tide receded all day on Saturday as the fantastic BHASS_EXPLORE #greensockmovement volunteers got stuck into removing as much nasty harmful plastic trash and synthetic materials from the exposed 'sea defence' boulders as we possibly could in one weekend.... day one was amazing and we got off to a flying start with a lime green monster that weighed in at over 250 kilos alone and needed cutting in four pieces to free it from its entangled position... these materials have been getting trapped here over the past 4 decades and they are slowly breaking down and decaying under the harsh conditions... our Extreme Coastal Clearance weekends between Brighton marina and Ovingdean are held to remove the estimated 10 tonnes plus of fishing industry and general shipping debris from the marine environment and to date wd have now cleared over 3 tonnes.... we shall return in early April when the lunar tidal cycle allows us safe full access all day to continue our work here... to find out more about this remarkable environmental project and our other work beneath the cliffs of Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters please visit bhassexplore.com or our BHASSEXPLORE Facebook page ... all are welcome to join us and help in any capacity at any off our events and we have cleared over 22 tonnes now from wildlife and marine life habitats in the past two years.... support us if you can and join the green sock movement and hold a clear up in your area! Special thanks to everyone who helped on Saturday to Tom and Holly, Charlotte Suzanne and Andy, Hebridean Pamela, Brigetta and Csaba who all worked hard and Claire and Gjna who came and took all the recyclable materials away..... thank you all.... well over 600 kilos was cleared over the weekend and Sundays reported will be found over on the @WarmNorm page!
